Meet the Team: Eve Worthington

In the first of our 'Meet the Team' series, we chat to Sheffield-based director Eve Worthington about what she gets up to on a typical working day, as well as what makes Sidekick PR so special and her top tips for organisations considering partnering with a PR agency.

What does a working day in your life look like?

I am probably too over reliant on my day starting with writing a list! My mind can often fill up with various things that I know are on the horizon and I have to take half an hour first thing to really look through what my priorities are for that day. I’ll do a check of my emails and ensure my inbox is up to date, complete a quick client review and look at what meetings or event are in my diary for the coming week, so I know what desk-based time I have to get the actual work done! Then it’s time to crack on – clients calls, copy writing, reviewing strategies, devising creative plans and trying to think ahead so our clients remain one step ahead when it comes to their comms and PR. And not forgetting a quick check of the admin side involved in running a business – this aspect can often be overlooked so it is important to me to schedule ‘Sidekick business’ time in as well.

What’s your favourite part of working in PR?

I do still really enjoy the relationship side of the job, meeting different people and getting to know them as well as their organisations and then creating a plan for how we can deliver the best possible service to suit their needs and help their business grow. Working with numerous clients across different sectors means there is always something different to do. As they say, variety is the spice of life!

What makes Sidekick PR special?

The directors! The three of us really are great friends who have come together to develop something that is special, not just to us but hopefully to our clients too! We founded Sidekick to work in a way we wanted to work – prioritising our own work-life balance but also building a clear business ethos. We were determined to ensure we became an extension of any internal team we worked with, delivering our services to like-minded people in a professional and friendly manner that adds true value to organisations. I think we have succeeded in doing this, we love our clients and what we do and that is something we are all very proud of.

What are you most looking forward to in 2025?

The world is changing so fast and the PR industry has to keep up. And that means as a business we have to adapt too. I am really excited to see what the next 12 months brings when it comes to things like AI and other technological advancements and looking at how we can harness these developments to help us move forward and continue as a sustainable business for years to come. In terms of service provision, between us we have over 70 years of experience in this field of work and we are looking at bringing that expertise together to deliver more training in the areas of our expertise such as crisis management and strategy development. There is lots coming up to be excited about.

If you could share one top tip with an organisation considering taking on a PR agency, what would it be?

I think it would be to make the agency part of your team as much as possible to create a real collaboration. However, you also need to recognise that it takes resource at the client end to do that effectively so make sure you have the time to do it. It will be worth the effort!
