Donation in memory of our dear friend

This month’s charity donation is inspired by our dear friend Bobbie Roberts, who sadly died at the end of February this year.

For those who knew Bobbie, they’ll know that summing her up in words is near on impossible, having read the comments in the memory book set up at Doncaster Deaf Trust where she was a trustee for some 42 years, or the special remarks shared by people from across Europe on social media, her kindness, generosity of time and impact shine out.

To us the world is a sadder place without this phenomenal lady in it. She aways had sage advice, a listening ear and a wise and caring response to any problem.

With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, this 85 year old inspiration would tell tales of her recent antics which often involved something as wild and outlandish as quad biking in Sweden or getting stuck on a boat with a flat engine in East Africa – she truly was legendary.

Her passion, dedication and charity work were recognised nationally with an MBE and locally when she was made a Freeman of Doncaster. For those around her these accolades were great to see, but she didn’t do it for the acknowledgement.

Since her death what has been clear to see is just how much she did for so many people and for that reason she’ll be remembered with a warm heart.

You might never have let us say you were ‘delighted’ in our news stories but we are truly delighted to have had you in our lives.

A donation has been made in Bobbie’s memory to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
