One of the benefits of running your own business is the control you have over your entire working life – what you do and what you don’t do.

And with that comes who you choose to work with.

When we set up Sidekick PR, we were really keen from day one to develop an ethos that reflected our name – Sidekick. We are here to support our clients achieve their overall business objectives and, in turn, make their life easier by providing a much needed helping hand.

But as well as having clients that really understand our approach, we also wanted to make sure we do business in a friendly and approachable way.

Building a level of trust and respect that this kind of relationship requires has been vitally important to us and, for me, it’s also what makes the everyday work of PR so enjoyable. Putting that effort in to form a bond, allows both the client and consultant to enjoy the good times but also deal more effectively and productively with the challenges that will undoubtedly come your way.

Sometimes in an agency you can feel the balance of power is against you but if your clients truly see you as an extension of their team bringing a level of expertise and knowledge to the table that they wouldn’t otherwise have then there is no need for that to be the case. It’s great to be on the same page as your clients, all working together as a partnership to achieve your shared goals.

I look at our client base now and am so grateful to them for being part of our journey and helping us to get to where we have and for being such great folk to work with. It really has made all the difference.
